About us
The Peterborough Phantoms BMX Club was founded in 1981,and has regularly hosted numerous Regional and National events. The Club has also hosted International events, including round three of the 1996 World Cup.
During this time Club riders have won the East Anglia Regional Championships, the National Championships, and the British Championships. We also have riders who have achieved a top ten European and World Ranking. We also have riders who have achieved a top ten European and World Ranking.
BMX has moved on since the 80’s: with fast technical tracks, and Peterborough has remained one of the top tracks in the UK.
This in part is due to the support of the Peterborough City Council and Awards for All grants.
However, it’s a merry band of volunteers, who maintain this excellent facility, and promote BMX racing locally, regional and throughout the UK.
In 2008 Peterborough hosted the British BMX Championships, which was voted the best championships in the last five years - read British Cycling’s report.
Club Night
is every Wednesday from April to September; weather permitting. The aim of the Club Night is to give people of all ages and ability the opportunity to experience BMX, in a safe and friendly environment.
The aim is to provide girls and boys, of all ages and abilities, with the opportunity to have a go at BMX. Its fun and a great opportunity to meet people with the same interest.
This fantastic sport will help improve bike handling skills and ones confidence on a bike. For those riders who wish to test their abilities regular races will be organised, so riders can race their peers on a National standard track, to experience the full excitement of BMX racing.
There is also an opportunity for professional coaching, which will address the needs of those wishing to race at Regional and National level.
Safety is paramount at these Club Nights and riders must abide by the Club Guidelines.
